Last Saturday I bought my tablesaw -- specifically, the Ryobi 10 in. Table Saw with Wheeled Stand-RTS31 at The Home Depot. It works. Getting it into the garage was something of an operation, because I don't have a ramp on that door. But I managed, with a couple of boards and a fair amount of wrangling.
It's by far the best saw I've used, though that isn't saying much; I'm particularly fond of the sliding crosscut table. It doesn't have the "no tool blade change" the spec sheet says it has, but that's the only downside so far. It even came with a carbide blade, so I was able to get started immediately.
We had some more excitement with the cats. Both of them got out last night, via the vent window in the upstairs bathroom. Naome heard them (thanks to their nice new collars with bells and nametags) and managed to get them back in from the roof. But... sheesh! We love them, but they're a handful and a half. Each.
We're gradually learning to be more careful. But we decided last night that it's ok to leave them out as long as we don't have contractors in the house. It's good. The house needs cats.
Colleen's orthopedics appointment got rescheduled by the doctor; his next opening was two weeks out. We're working on getting her something sooner, because Good Grief! She has a new roommate as of yesterday, who mostly speaks Estonian.
I've been fighting depression. At least I can sometimes notice it; that's something.
Oh, and Amazon renewed my contract until the end of August. By which time I hope to have something permanent lined up. Anyone in Seattle need a Java or Perl hacker?
0714 Su Bastille Day : N brought Desti in to my room during the night; I didn't quite wake up but remembered it in the morning when she told me about it. * awake 5ish; dozing and petting Curio * up 7:40; W=201.2; d, n : found Desti perched on the shower door lintel. Closed the vent window. & Drove N. to school for her CPR class. * Shopped at Neighborhood Market -- major win. Got beef summer sausage, salmon and asparagus for dinner, olives, a few other items. * Went to Home Despot for tablesaw, medicine cabinet, LED bulbs. Had help with loading; getting them installed is going to be a bitch. * Unloading wasn't so bad; got it onto the cart with no incident. * Table saw put together. Didn't have the toolless blade changing mentioned in the online spec; that's about the only problem with it, and it's minor. * Made 4 4'6" 1x8 shelves for the bedroom. * Picked up N after her first aid class. She wants broccoli and white rice with dinner; will go out later. * Finished bedroom shelves, using 5' and 4' 1x10's from the garage. Stupidly let one fall edgewise across my toes. Ow! * pay mortgage (out of household account) * dinner: sockeye salmon, caprese (rainbow cherry tomatoes), white basmati rice, broccoli. Tasty. There are leftovers. * cats in my room, which is getting to be a regular thing. 0715 Mo * up 6ish; W=201.8; d, n : Went to move the cats into N's room -- they zipped out the door and into N's. Cool! & took N to doctor's appointment at 8:45; will probably get in to work ~noon -> actually got in 10:05, thanks to N. being up to switching drivers * The (LG Pinguino) air conditioners arrived. Getting them upstairs is going to be a bit challenging -- they're *big*. * Finally got *both* power cords on the tub plugged in. Works. It's disappointing that the heater and jets are controlled by the same switch. 0716 Tu * up 6am; W=202.4; d, n & dinner with N at the Indian restaurant at Alaska Junction. Not as good as the one near Northgate, but acceptable, and they have a lunch buffet. * Good massage from N: one of her homework assignments was hips, thighs, and feet. Which is exactly what I've been needing since the injury. : the tub is indeed a wonderful tub. @ Jim C. Hines ยป PC Monsters of Genre: Collect Them All! (annathepiper) who to follow on twitter 0717 We * up 6:30; W=204; d, n : something in the house is beeping. I'm guessing a smoke alarm. * left work earlyish to take N to her licensing exam. Noplace to wait, so I'm back in the van. * The beeping smoke alarm proved to be at the bottom of the basement stairs. Changing the battery didn't fix it, so assume it needs to be replaced. 0718 Th * up 6ish; W=203.2; d, n, t : Contract renewed through the end of August : Colleen's new roommate speaks mostly Estonian. Not very good company. : Found Curio out; best guess is that I didn't close the door to my room hard enough for it to latch. That would be the second time. * UB checks arrived ! 9:20 depressed * Curio in my room -- very clingy and snuggly. I think he missed me. 0719 Fr : Curio on my bed, even with CPAP, and following me around the room * up 5:30; ; d, n; shower * update address for Amex -- had to use Firefox :P * call IRS about tax refund 800-829-0582 [ Mr. Wegner ID# 1000-676-765 Reference # 1541 ] -> notice sent June 17; call back 45 days from that = Aug 1. * 15min: cleared a couple of boxes while on hold with IRS : Met an interesting person on the bus. Woman, 69, recognized me as a guitar player by my fingernails. Asked about recent hard SF @ Anita Manuel Piano : Glenn over for massage; ordered Chinese for dinner. Not as good cooking as YuShan, but less salt. * Cats left out for the weekend -- we'll lock them up again when there are contractors in the house. Both of them got out through the open window in the bathroom -- N heard them and managed to get them back from the roof, but it was a near thing. Again.
