Was at FurCon for all of an hour and a half -- the flower_cat
wanted me to
pay for dinner have dinner with her, and I'll take
almost any excuse to spend time with my Cat. Showed off my Nokia 770 to
johno, who was at the table as well. But the con looked to be
about the same as last year -- not my thing. So I decided to forgo the
filking (which was also pretty unexciting last year, IIRC) so I
could come back home and record another song.
Got a nice clean take of "The Mushroom Song" this afternoon, along with loads of errand-running. (Yes, I'm reporting on my day in reverse chronological order. This is a blog, after all.) Closet lining at Southern Lumber for the walls in the back bathroom where the old tub used to be, side trips to REI and Guitar Showcase to see if their sales included anything I needed (they didn't), Peet's for two pounds of coffee, and the bank to deposit a check. First errand I ran this morning was to Kaiser for some followup labwork. Also had my BP taken -- 121/77, which is doing pretty well, for me. Turns out they have a free WAP, which could be convenient at times.
Somewhere in there, between Peet's and REI if I remember correctly, I managed to do a load of dishes and a load of laundry (it was either that, or not have any underwear tomorrow), grab a late breakfast/early lunch, and install the soap dispenser that goes with our new kitchen faucet. Did not install the faucet itself -- that looked more complicated than I wanted to deal with at that point.
Also, over the course of the day, cranked through five or six more track directories for tweaking and annotation. Still need to re-record "Silk and Steel", "Demon Lover", and "Someplace in the Net" -- at least!
Took me all evening, but I finally got a clean take for "TEOTWAWKI v2.0". One slightly off consonant, but I'll let it pass. I'll want new strings before I tackle "Silk and Steel" -- more than any other song, it really ought to have that sweet, shimmery new-string sound. (Yes, as a matter of fact, I do use Martin Silk and Steel strings. Why do you ask?)
(Aside to cflute -- you are coming down early for
Consonance, aren't you? Sounds [according to
johno] as
though you might be on tap for more than one project. The Starport Hotel
is open as usual.)
