Today I am grateful for...

  • Exit plans.
  • Fidgets.
  • Insulated cups and tumblers. And French presses, for that matter.
  • My support groups.
  • Masks, and the people still wearing them.

Lately I've been having a lot of trouble with these gratitude posts.

I'm grateful for exit plans for those who can and/or must have them. We all have gratitude for mask-wearers. We wear ours when out faithfully, since we are proof the measures work. No one in my family has had the virus. I even avoided it in the nursing home. That's an achievement. They did have a strict protocol: they divided the place into positive and negative sides, and labeled them, masks when leaving the room, visitors had to be negative and wear masks, et cetera.

Here's something to elicit gratitude. You may like this one, having bosses (meow). Monroe let me clip his claws when Dad held him without scruffing him. He was cuddled closely whilst Dad purred into his side. I cooed at him and clipped the nails perfectly. We may get to the point that he won't need holding. What a good and smart boy! Achilles maintains his own claws, never using them on us.

I'm glad you folx were touched lightly by the virus.

Airports are festering pools of infections. I often got URIs after flying. Supermarkets are cattle pens with food variety. Zoonoses travel like wildfire in groups like that. Okay, I'll pull my tongue out of my cheek. It's still a germ haven. My guys shop as fast as they can and wear N95s. I have one in my purse, and there's a box of masks in the car. There isn't anything close for walking unless you want to hike one of the trails here. The orchard trails are especially nice. Me, I just walk in the house, with Monroe riding proudly on my walker. I think it's adorable.

Having the vet do it was how we handled Honor's.
